NEW YORK -(Dow Jones)- iFormation Group, formed in June 2000 to develop online businesses, launched ipValue Management, which will focus on commercialization of intellectual property assets. In a press release Tuesday, iFormation said ipValue received a $100 million, six-year contract from BT Group PLC's (BTY) research and technology unit BTexact.

Under the exclusive pact, ipValue's first contract, the companies will work on licensing BTexact's existing and future patents to corporations in the U.S. and Canada. The contract also includes non-exclusive rights in Japan. BTexact has about 14,000 patents for telecommunications, multimedia and wireless technology.
